Hmmm. Bubble skirt?
I've never been a big fan of the bubble, or pouf, skirt. Maybe it brings back memories of bad '80s fashion for me. But then, I saw this dress on The Sartorialist.
I never would have thought to make a jersey bubble skirt. I like it! I'm not sure if it will like me but I thought I'd give it a shot anyway. I bought this Simplicity pattern and pulled some rayon jersey out of my stash. I'll let you know how it goes!

I can't wait to see how it turns out. I've been going back and forth as to whether I like this style or not and it'll be nice to see it on someone!
Make this soon! I have this pattern and I bought it for the pants. The skirt is growing on me though. It's definitely not the 1980s fluffy pouffy thing!
I think this will work Gigi! The version on The Sartorialist looks to be ungathered where the yoke meets the skirt - so maybe you could combine the bubble version with the one to right of it on the pattern envelope.

That's really cool. I am 13 and i am making a dress similiar to this one. It has a low v-neck that squares off when it hits the waist. Then it has a bubble skirt. I will try to post it when i am done if anyone is interested.
i think that that is super cool. i am thirteen and i am making a dress similiar to this. i never liked bubble skirts ethier, but then i had this idea of a low v-neck with flowing cap sleeves a high waist band and a bubble skirt so i am working on this right now. i will try to post it if anyone is interested. i havent had any lessons i kinda tought myself and i have had the same sewing machine since i was seven so it goes wild sometimes.
could someone please tell me how much fabric i need for the bubble skirt?? my waist is 34'' or 86cm
